Letter of Recommendation

   Obituary with Adopted Children

Mr. Peter Harris "Pete" Campbell, 61, died on January 16, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Bend, OR due to complications following surgery.

Pete described himself as a man born to be a father. A devout Mormon his entire life, he was born on April 2, 1953 to Benjamin and Colleen Campbell in Boring, OR. Pete attended Sandy High School and married Linda Johnson, his high school sweetheart, in 1972. The couple welcomed twin boys, Robert and Eric, into their lives in 1973, and Pete was hired as a mail clerk at Merrill Lynch. Over the next twenty years, he would work his way up to Assistant Financial Advisor to the West Coast.

"A job is a lot like parenting," Pete said once. "If you want results then you put in the hours and only curse under your breath."

Pete and Linda fostered six children from 1974 – 1977, resulting in their adoption of Jennifer and Gregory Campbell in 1978. In 1980, Pete fathered his youngest child, Nathan. Pete adored his clan and was proud to have a baseball team and a rock band at the ready. As a regular volunteer and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, faith and family made up his foundation.

Pete is survived by his children, Rob, Eric, Jen, Greg, and Nate of Bend, OR; his wife, Linda of Bend, OR; his brother, Jason Campbell of Sandy, OR; his sister Theresa Thomas of Bend, OR; and his father, Benjamin Campbell of Boring, OR. He is preceded in death by his mother, Colleen Campbell of Boring, OR.

Funeral services will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bend, OR on January 20, 2015. All are invited to attend and share their memories of Pete. Flowers and donations are respectfully declined.
