Anthony "Tony" Fitzgerald of Missoula, MT, age 45, passed away on August 31, 2019, after a tragic car accident.
Tony was born on October 3, 1973, to Dave Johnson and Maureen Davis. He was adopted at the age of 15 months by his parents, Carlos and Gina Fitzgerald. Part of a large family with six children, Tony liked to joke, "Some people have big families, but I'm the only one I know with a whole baseball team who loves me."
Family came first to Tony, and he spent his life working on his parents' ranch, gradually expanding the acreage and helping raise prize-winning horses. His hard work and entrepreneurial spirit helped improve life at home and in the community, as he established a church social center in 2005 and worked for the homeless shelter starting in 1998.
Tony is survived by his parents, Carlos and Gina Fitzgerald of Missoula, MT; his biological father, Dave Johnson, of Whitefish, MT; his brothers, Scott Fitzgerald of Missoula, MT, Diego Fitzgerald of John Day, OR, Bert Fitzgerald of Tacoma, WA, and Rick Fitzgerald-White of Missoula, MT; his sister, Maria Price-Fitzgerald of Missoula, MT; and his many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his biological mother, Maureen Davis.
A public funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on September 5, 2019. The family requests donations to the Stone Soup homeless shelter in lieu of flowers.
