Letter of Recommendation

   Formal Obituary

Harold Harrington died Aug. 3, 2020, in Anytown, CA, at age 85. He was a veteran, a businessman, and an avid fisherman.

Harrington was born Feb. 5, 1935, to Charles and Louisa Harrington, who had immigrated to the United States from London, England a few years prior to his birth. Harrington was the eldest of three brothers, all of whom preceded him in death.

He joined the U.S. Army as soon as he turned 18 and served for eight years, garnering many honors and rising through the ranks.

After working for several years at an electronics store, Harrington had an idea for a radio-powered device. He built a prototype in his garage and eventually patented the Harrington Communicator. In 1970, he started Harrington High Fidelity, which he built into a thriving chain of stores that were ultimately sold to Circuit City.

Harrington retired and began spending his free time fly-fishing in rivers all over the state. He couldn't rest on his laurels, however, and designed and patented a new style of bamboo fly rod.

He is survived by his niece Claire and his nephew Logan. No services will be held.
