Bianca Cortez died Nov. 30, 2022 at just 8 years of age in Anytown, Calif. She was known to her loved ones, caregivers, and social media followers as “Bianca Brave.”
Bianca was born on Dec. 20, 2013. She was so looking forward to her birthday and Christmas, and her family will be forever grateful for the combined celebration that was thrown for her during her final hospital stay.
Cancer cruelly tried to slow Bianca down, but despite more treatments, surgeries, and hospital stays than any little girl should have to endure, she always wanted to “get things done,” whether it was a coloring page or reading a favorite book. She packed so much life into such a short time.
Bianca didn’t go into every medical situation with a smile on her face. She cried along with us when we learned that the cancer had come back. We cried even harder when it spread. But through it all, she was so, so brave.
She leaves behind her devastated parents, Samuel and Shea, grandparents Raul and Carmen Cortez and Benjamin and Sasha Sheraton, and her sister and best friend Natalie.
A service will be held on Christmas Day, as Bianca wished. We understand that attendance may be low due to the holiday. Please feel free to send a stuffed animal in her honor to Anytown Children’s Hospital, or make a donation toward fighting childhood cancer.
