Cole Joseph Hill, age 9, died on Sunday, January 26, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Detroit, MI.
Cole was born on November 12, 2005, in Detroit MI, to parents Carlos Hill Jr. and Julia Miller. A quiet, studious child, Cole was known by his family and friends to be sharp, smart, and solitary. "He loved reading anything—comic books, textbooks, rhetoric—anything," said his mother, Julia. "He could debate Descartes with me. He was a special little boy." The budding philosopher was also a member of the chess team at East Elementary School, and had a mind for trivia. He liked to play strategy games with his friends and aspired to one day design board games.
Cole is survived by his parents, Carlos and Julia; his brothers, Damian and Lewis Hill; his sister, Mary Hill; his paternal grandparents, Carlos and Kathrine Hill; his maternal grandparents, Jonah and Donna Miller; his aunt and uncle, Henry and Kate Hill; his cousins, Joshua and Derek Hill; his best friend, Tony Graham, and his beloved pet rat, Cheesy Pete.
Funeral services will take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Detroit, MI on January 31, 2015, 5:00 p.m. All are invited. Flowers and donations are respectfully declined.
