Letter of Recommendation

   Celebration Of Life Obituary

All who knew and loved Genevieve Gascoyne are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on July 12 at the Anytown Unitarian Church. A short service will be followed by a potluck social, with music provided by Genevieve’s favorite band, the Porch Roaches.

Genevieve was born on Valentine’s Day, 1965, and died on Valentine’s Day 2022. Ironically, she despised the holiday. “Tell people you love them any day you feel like it,” she would say.

The Anytown native was born at home to Regis and Caltronia Gascoyne. She grew up in a yurt on the banks of the Trinity River, an experience that she always said could have turned her into a “verified hippie” but instead led her to crave the finer things in life. She loathed camping and loved tea parties. She hated vegetables but loved expensive chocolates.

As far as her friends and family are concerned, Genevieve died too soon, but she was at peace with what was to come. “Hold space for all feelings,” she told anyone who visited her during hospice care.

She is survived by her mother and father, her beloved Aunt Stacey, and six parakeets whose names none of her friends could reliably remember.

Those who attend the Celebration of Life are asked to bring photos and/or memories of Genevieve’s time on this earth. Rather than flowers, potted plants would be most welcome.
